13 email threat types to know about right now
Our vendor partner, Barracuda Networks, recently published a report called "13 email threat types to know about right now." This is an excellent resource about common email attacks and how they can be prevented. It also outlines how many of these attacks are intertwined and hard to catch. Page 2 states "You must also effectively defend against sophisticated email threats that are often able to bypass defenses by using backdoor techniques, including spoofing, social engineering, and fraud, to penetrate networks and wreak havoc." Remote users can be especially vulnerable since they often don't have the same protective measures enabled as when they are in their workplace.
Barracuda's report has been made available to download for free at: barracuda.com/13-threats-report. How many of these attacks have you seen? Do you have the proper gateway, AI, and API defense? While email may seem like a safe, established technology, email-borne threats are constantly evolving. The FBI says that cybercrime caused $3.5 Billion in losses during 2019, with business email compromise leading the way.
On June 18 we did a live webinar training with Barracuda about email security. For a limited time, we are offering a free recording of this webinar! Contact brandong@scsiusa.com to receive a copy.
